Living in Vancouver

Vancouver has repeatedly been named one of the most liveable cities in the world. Within half an hour you can go from sitting at the beach along Spanish Banks, to going snowshoeing along snowcapped mountains. The social welfare system along with a strong environmental consciousness has made Vancouver clean, picturesque and generally a really great place to be. It is also very expensive, and culturally, more reserved than other places.

A good place to start learning about this great city is the Newcomer’s guide to Vancouver.

As students, we are faced with the challenge of trying to adapt to the city at a bit of a disadvantage (we are economically challenged), please see the section on Finances to hear more about this aspect.

In this section three people make suggestions about having a social life, getting academic help, and learning about housing. Each shares their own experience differently and made suggestions.
